## About Ledge

Ledge turns the notch on your Mac into a shelf. Drag anything up to the notch, let go, and hand it off later to any app or folder, as the right kind of thing. Files pile up on the desktop, in Downloads and in a dozen tabs; Ledge gives them one place to land, already at the top of every screen, right where your cursor drifts.

Key Features

Aim at the notch: start dragging any file and the shelf slides down to meet it. No target to find and no window to summon.

It holds everything: screenshots, PDFs, folders, whole app bundles, images, links and text rest on the shelf until you are ready.

Read at a glance: every tile shows a real preview, a clean name and a type badge, so a spreadsheet, a PDF and a photo never look alike.

The right shape everywhere: Ledge rewrites the hand-off in flight and tells you which before you let go. Terminal gets the quoted path, typed in for you. Slack and Mail get the file, attached and ready to send. A folder gets the file, or a JPG if you set a rule.

Your destinations: flip a switch for the apps you send to and they stay on the shelf as destinations, even when closed. Fold in folders so a drop lands in the right place with the right name. Per-app rules decide the format, so a design tool gets a PNG and a terminal gets a path.

Fast to reach: Option-Space opens the shelf and puts it away, or click the notch itself. Done with it and it settles into a hairline under the notch, and it never traps a click below. It works on Macs without a notch too.

Privacy

Ledge is a tool, not a service. There is no account and no cloud. It goes online only to activate your licence and check for updates, and your files never leave your Mac.

Collect screenshots and exports while you work and hand them off in one move, paste a file path into a terminal without typing it, attach files to a chat or an email from the shelf, and keep the desktop clear.

Getting Started

Download Ledge (macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon and Intel, signed and notarized by Apple), drag a file up to the notch, and press Option-Space whenever you need the shelf.
