We started the project in New Zealand after too many brunches spent hovering in doorways, leash in hand, asking the same tired question: are dogs allowed inside? It began as a spreadsheet tracking places that did not give us grief. Bentley, our miniature poodle and unofficial chief taste-tester, has been to most of the places on the map. If a venue sends him outside or makes you do the awkward dance, it does not get listed. Inside means inside. Every entry is checked by people who actually bring a dog.
