Punchcard is a Mac menu bar app that quietly notices where your day went, app by app, and site by site in your browser if you switch that on. At the hour you pick, it prints you a receipt for it: itemized, stamped and ready to post. No projects, no timers to remember and no account.
Key Features
Nothing to set up: there is no setup wizard, no project picker and no timer to forget to start. Drag it to Applications and it takes one small slot in your menu bar.
Notices when you step away: it notes which app is in front and notices when you are idle, so lunch is not counted as work.
The print moment: at closing time the paper feeds out line by line with a soft dot-matrix whirr, and the stamp lands last. Drag the receipt down to tear it off.
Built to be posted: every receipt exports as a 1080 by 1350 PNG, and a plain-text version lands on your clipboard for alt text. The barcode at the bottom is real Code 128 and encodes that day's date.
Weeks and months: Sunday prints a long roll for the week, and the end of a month prints a longer one.
Never-print list: add any app or website and it vanishes from the roll entirely.
Itemized browsing (optional): your browser time prints as the sites you actually used. Only the site name is kept, never the full address, and incognito windows are never read.
Privacy
Punchcard asks for no special permissions to get going. It sees the name of the app in front, not window titles, documents or anything you type. Everything lives in one SQLite file on your Mac; delete it and the day never happened. There is no account, no cloud and no analytics of any kind.
Use Cases
See where a workday actually went without starting timers, share a receipt of your day, and look back over a week or a month at a glance.
Getting Started
Download Punchcard (macOS 13 Ventura or later, Apple silicon and Intel), open the installer, and pick the hour you clock out.
Pricing and Plans
Free to try: tracking never expires and the first two receipts are on the house. Then $9 once, with every future update included and two Macs on one license key. Not a subscription.
