tauRank shows short-term rental hosts where a listing appears in Airbnb and BookingCom search results, as seen from the countries their guests search from. Airbnb and BookingCom don’t show hosts their position, and the position a host finds by searching for their own listing depends on where that search is made. The same apartment, same city and same dates can be on page 1 for someone searching from Romania and on page 3 for someone searching from Germany. For a host whose guests mostly come from abroad, the rank they can see themselves is the least useful one.
To run a check, paste a listing URL at taurank.com, pick a booking window (a flexible weekend, a flexible week or specific dates) and choose up to three guest markets, for example Romania, Germany and the UK. tauRank runs the same search from each country and reports what that market sees: the listing’s page and position, the roughly 150 competing listings around it, and their nightly prices, badges and guest capacity. Airbnb and BookingCom are checked separately, so a host on both can compare how each one treats the same property.
A check answers questions a host can act on. A listing that is invisible to German guests on summer weekends while a similar one two streets away sits on page 1 at a lower price tells the host which market to price for and what to compare against. Subscribers get the same report every day for several listings and markets, with the history kept so a drop shows up as a line on a chart rather than a guess.
I run a few short-term rentals in Timișoara and built tauRank because the established rank tracker, Rankbreeze, was expensive for a handful of apartments and its numbers didn’t match what I saw when I searched through proxies in different countries. The rank it reported was real, it just wasn’t the one my guests were seeing. tauRank is the tool I wanted instead: affordable for a small host, and explicit about where each ranking is measured from.
tauRank reads public search results only. It never connects to a host account and never touches the host dashboard. Any city works: the first listing submitted from a city is what brings that city into the system. The aggregate numbers are public in the city reports, which show how listings in each covered city spread across pages and price bands, with no sign-up needed. There is also a demo of the dashboard with real data.
Pricing is pay as you go, €1 per check in credit packs from €3, with credits that never expire. Subscriptions for daily tracking start at €9 a month. Prices exclude VAT.
