Paste a listing URL and your domain. See every link to your site, the rel value (dofollow, nofollow, ugc, or sponsored), and the anchor text. Free, no signup.
When someone says a link is dofollow, they mean it is an ordinary HTML link. There is no rel="dofollow" value. A link is dofollow when the anchor does not include rel="nofollow", rel="ugc", or rel="sponsored". Search engines may follow it and may pass ranking signals, often called link equity, to the URL it points at. A rel="nofollow" link asks them not to treat the link as an endorsement of the target. Google has described nofollow, ugc, and sponsored as hints since 2019, not as hard blocks. A directory that promised a dofollow backlink and published nofollow still did not give you the link you were counting on.
rel="ugc" marks user-generated content. Directories add it when you submit the product yourself and an editor did not place the link. rel="sponsored" marks a paid placement. Neither one is a clean editorial dofollow link. This checker shows every rel token on the anchor and one verdict: dofollow, nofollow, ugc, or sponsored. If an anchor carries more than one restriction, the verdict is nofollow when that token is present, otherwise sponsored, otherwise ugc. The other tokens stay in the rel column, so you can see the raw markup. We do not collapse that into a vague "link found" result, and we do not invent a link that was not in the HTML.
Founders submit to launch directories for a mention, a click, and a backlink. The backlink only behaves like a normal ranking signal when three things are true, and all three are visible in the response the server sends. An anchor must point at your domain. We treat www and any subdomain as your site, so a link to blog.yourstartup.com counts when you enter yourstartup.com. The anchor should be dofollow if that is what you were promised. And the page should not tell crawlers to ignore its links or to index a different URL.
Page-level signals change the value of every link on the listing. A meta robots tag, or a googlebot meta tag, can contain nofollow or noindex. An X-Robots-Tag header can say the same thing, and none means both. Page-level nofollow asks engines not to follow links on that URL, even when a specific anchor has no rel attribute. This tool still reports the anchor's own verdict, plus an effective verdict of nofollow when the page sends that signal. noindex means the listing may never be indexed, so a dofollow link on it often passes little lasting value. A canonical element tells engines which URL should get the credit. If it differs from the final URL after redirects, the listing may be consolidated away. We show the status code and final URL so a 404, a block, or a hop to another host is obvious.
Some directories paint the visit button in the browser after the document loads. We do not run JavaScript. We download the document, follow up to five HTTP redirects, stop at about 2.5 MB, and read the anchor tags in that HTML. If your domain is not among them, the result says the link was not found in the server HTML and that it may be added by JavaScript. That sentence means we did not see the link. It does not mean we opened a browser and confirmed it. Crawlers that skip scripts will miss it as well. Paste the listing URL, not your homepage, and the domain you expect them to link to.
Check a listing after it goes live, before you count the submission as a backlink. A dofollow verdict on an indexable page whose canonical is itself is the result you wanted. Nofollow, ugc, or sponsored means the directory published a restricted link. No matching anchor means there is nothing in the HTML to count. You can ask them to correct the rel attribute, or put the next launch on a source that links out as dofollow. On Aura++, a founder profile website stays nofollow until you upgrade it, and a premium launch includes a dofollow backlink from this domain. See the claim dofollow link page and pricing. This checker only reports the links, rel values, and page signals in the URL you pasted.
