Free To Use

What is Free To Use?

Free To Use is a royalty-free music platform that gives content creators high-quality background music completely free. Founded in 2016, it offers unlimited downloads with no account or sign-up required. Crucially, every track is created by a real human artist – never AI – and Free To Use owns the rights to its entire catalogue. That ownership is why the music stays free permanently and is genuinely safe to use: if a video ever gets a false copyright claim, the team can resolve it directly. Every track is also hand-reviewed and categorised by the same curator, so quality and tagging stay consistent.

Who is it for?

Content creators, video producers, streamers, podcasters, marketers, and small businesses who need professional background music they can trust. Anyone publishing to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitch or podcasts can download a track and use it without licensing headaches, copyright strikes, or registration.

How is it priced?

Downloads are free when you include a short attribution. To remove attribution or use the music commercially, there are two affordable subscriptions – Personal and Commercial – plus single-track Pro and Broadcast licences for one-off and large-scale productions. Anything published while subscribed stays cleared forever, even after the subscription ends.

How does it compare to alternatives?

Most "free" libraries simply host tracks uploaded by producers who keep the rights, so a song can be pulled later or used to issue copyright claims; others are increasingly filling up with AI-generated music. Free To Use is different: it owns every human-made track outright, which lets it keep the catalogue free and defend creators against false claims. There are no restrictions by channel, platform, or country, and the platform is privacy-first – no cookies and no tracking.
