Rift Drifter is a vector arcade space shooter, reimagined for the modern era. The Asteroids DNA you remember, rebuilt with current technology, designed to play for everyone, on every platform.
Five chapters of escalating chaos
Five phased boss fights, each with distinct attack patterns that demand new tactics as the encounter unfolds. Three weapon systems (Pulse, Ion Lance, Seekers) and a roster of power-ups (Rapid Fire, Shields, Triple Shot). Unlockable ships, weapon cosmetics, and a reactive layered soundtrack that responds to game state. Earn Voidium currency on every kill and spend it on the upgrades that fit how you play. Sessions are short, satisfying, and replayable. Pick up, play a chapter, move on.
What makes Rift Drifter unusual is not the gameplay loop, though we think it is tight.
It is how the game is built.
Rift Drifter is drawn entirely in code. No sprite sheets. No audio files. No pre-made assets of any kind.
Every ship, asteroid, explosion, and particle is rendered live from geometry. Every sound effect, including the dynamic soundtrack, is synthesized in real time through the Web Audio API. The constraint is the craft. Code-only games load instantly with no asset downloads, scale to any resolution without re-exporting art, and stay sharp on the smallest phone or the largest tablet. The full game weighs in well under a megabyte.
Accessibility was an architectural choice, not a checklist tacked on at the end. Reduced motion strips animations for players who are vestibular-sensitive or who simply prefer quieter visuals. High contrast lifts colors out of the muted palette. Large HUD enlarges critical readouts. Touch sizes scale up to 1.25 times for users who need bigger targets. Orientation lock keeps the game in portrait or landscape for one-handed play. Because the game is rendered in code, not from sprite sheets, all of this works at runtime. No re-exports, no separate accessibility builds.
Play it on iOS (App Store), Android (Google Play), in your browser at nosprite.com, or on itch.io. Same game, every platform. No ads. No pay-to-win. Pure arcade. Each title has an optional tip jar for players who want to back the studio. Tipping never changes the game and never carries any pressure.
About the studio: NoSprite is a solo indie game studio building retro arcade games rendered entirely in code. The project started Easter Sunday 2026 with a blank text editor and a curiosity about what HTML5 Canvas could really do. Five weeks later, Rift Drifter shipped to the App Store, Google Play, browser, and itch.io.
AI-augmented workflow. The human handles taste, judgment, and the final yes or no on every decision.
Rift Drifter is the first title from NoSprite. More on the way.
