One city, one simple tutoring marketplace
Find a Tutor is a small, honest tutoring marketplace for Nuremberg, Germany (Nachhilfe in Nürnberg). It is live, it is early, and it is built by one person. Students and parents find tutors online or in person. Tutors publish a free listing and set their own price.
Why I built it
Tutoring in most cities runs on luck. You ask around, scroll through group chats or find a flyer. You rarely know the price before you write. On the other side, many students could teach a subject well, but nobody can find them. I wanted one place where a listing shows subject, description and hourly price, and where contact is one message away.
What works today
Free registration and free listings (currently).
E-mail confirmation before a listing goes live.
A three-step listing creator with a live preview of your card.
A message form on every listing for logged-in users, with spam protection.
Online and in-person tutoring in Nuremberg.
Tutors can delete their listings and their account themselves.
Founding Member status
The first 100 tutors with a published listing receive a numbered "Founding Member" badge. It appears in lists, in search, in "My listings" and on the listing page. Founding members are shown preferentially, which is not the same as a guaranteed top spot. A counter on the homepage shows how many spots are left.
The honest part
Commission: It may be introduced later. We announce it at least 30 days in advance by e-mail. Founding members then receive benefits, details to follow. There is no entitlement to permanent commission-free use.
Trust: Tutors are not verified. Listings show the status "unchecked".
Reviews: There are none yet.
Booking and chat: There is no booking, no payment and no real-time chat on the platform. Contact works through a form and e-mail.
Use cases
A university student offers tutoring in a subject they know well and sets their own hourly price.
A student preparing for an exam searches for a tutor in one subject and writes to a listing.
A parent compares prices and descriptions and sends a message with a few clear questions.
Who should try it
If you teach a subject in Nuremberg and want to be found, publish a listing. If you need tutoring, take a look and tell us what is missing. Contact: kontakt@find-a-tutor.com.
